mredig
Is there any way to use built in Photoshop plugins? I pointed AP to the Plugins folder in my Photoshop installation, but then I realized that it was empty. I swear Adobe used to leave the default plugins in that folder, but maybe I'm imagining things. Anyway, I'd love to have access to things like the filter gallery in AP instead of having to open that slug.
MikeFromMesa
APB currently has some problems in dealing with PS compatible plugins but that area is next on their list to address and they expect to be completely compatible soon. To set up APB for plugin use (as it is today) you need to go to Preferences -> Photoshop Plugins and list the enclosing folders for the plugins you wish to use. Then, in the second section of the same dialog box, you should list the support folders needed. Since I did not know them I used /. My Topaz plugins work (sort of) although many of my plugins still do not work. I expect this to be addressed sometime in the next couple of weeks based on the postings the developers made a few weeks ago. mredig
Right - I did that. I should maybe have put more emphasis on the word "default". As in, the plugins/filters that come WITH photoshop. Specifically, the filter gallery that has a bunch of abilities that aren't easily reproduceable (to my knowledge) by the basic set of blurs and filters included with Affinity. https://www.dropbox.com/s/wf9sevrzih84ifi/ps%20filter%20gallery.png?dl=0 The problem seems to be that Photoshop doesn't seem to store those filters in its plugins folder. mredig
More specifically, I believe Topaz to be a third party plugin for PS, but I want access to the first party ones.
MikeFromMesa
More specifically, I believe Topaz to be a third party plugin for PS, but I want access to the first party ones. Ah. I apparently misunderstood. You did use the words "build in" and I must have just skipped right over that. Sorry. I need to ask where those plugins are stored on a system. I used to have CC installed but when I uninstalled it it seems to have removed all of its plugins except for the 3rd party ones. I have looked in Applications and in the two Library folders but not found any of those plugins. Perhaps you can point me to where they should be? I've been known to skim things myself. :P But that is the issue... I don't know where they are kept either! I admittedly haven't done any research on it, but will probably do so shortly. mredig
Well I found it! It's located at /Applications/Adobe Photoshop CC 2014/Adobe Photoshop CC 2014.app/Contents/Required/Plug-Ins Very few of them seem to work though. And filter gallery shows in the menu, but is greyed out. :(

I thought you had already uninstalled it (as I have) and were looking for the plugins in some of the left-over remnants of the original install. Second I did not know that you could actually try to add plugins from an application container. I had only tried using plugins that were external to applications. I know that the containers are folders, but they are a special kind of folder and I did not know the contents could be used. What plugins are they, just out of curiosity? mredig
Yeah - app contents are accessible like any other folder. :) https://www.dropbox.com/s/fqgu5g1k9kibwwi/ps%20plugins.png?dl=
