plq Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 I have spent the last 24 hours with technicians from Adobe trying to get a subscription to Creative Cloud working, after being asked to update the Desktop App, which is the sw responsible for keeping track of versions, subscriptions and also the selling tool. The end result is that Adobe technicians conclude that I can not have old versions of Adobe sw on my Mac (working sw) while at the same having a Creative Cloud subscription. Why I wonder? Could this be because Adobe are now trying massively to sell more content into existing subscriptions. Another worrying comment by the technicans poking around on my system was that they recognized competing software in the Applications directory (Affinity software that is), and commented that as they cover similar applications areas, they could very well interfere. BS, but the fact that they have the nerve. The result they have have achieved is to wreck previously installed sw (Adobe Acrobat pro, and other good stuff, good to have tools, but seldom used) unusable, and a subscription to Creative Cloud (Photochop + Lightroom) unusable. And to use unsuspecting technicians in India to do the dirty work. It is disgraceful. Quote
All Media Lab Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 Left Adobe after CS 5.5 (still works) and never looked back! Use Affinity Photo, Affinity Designer, Sublime Text 3, Natron, Hitfilm, Capture One 12. No reason for me to stay at Adobe. Quote

Adobe gave me the runaround 2 years ago, informing me that I could not use my purchased ($600.00) version of InDesign CS5 or 6 or whatever and that I would have to use their Creative Cloud subscription. So I unsubscribed permanently to anything Adobe. Don't like bait and switch. Out the window went InDesign (and Photoshop with it, on principle). Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer are lovely, and now Affinity Publisher is up and running in Beta and will be equally splendid when its release version is ready. I am already using it before then (even though we are warned by the developers that we could have problems) and am finding it a real pleasure to use. So hang on, PLQ! In short order we can all leave Adobe in the rear-view mirror if we wish! Quote 24" iMAC Apple M1 chip, 8-core CPU, 8-core GPU, 16 GB unified memory, 1 TB SSD storage, Ventura 13.6.7.
