rob.biker54
I have Windows 10 and when I upgraded to a Nikon D7500 in July 2018, Windows Explorer won't open the RAW images. This means that Affinity does not open it either. I don't know what Microsoft are doing or planning regarding RAW images from the Nikon D7500, so if I cannot open RAW images in Affinity, I would like to know what you are doing or planning to enable opening of RAW images, otherwise, I will just stick to Photoshop Elements 2018 alone. I don't see why I have to add more photo apps to my PC, such as Fast Picture Viewer, etc. I am currently on Affinity Version 1.6.5.123. v_kyr
Hi, this has nothing to do with the Win explorer, since Affinity Photo on Win uses it's own libraw based engine here. Actually your Nikon D7500 isn't supported by the AP 1.6.x release (see supported cameras), thus you may want to try if perhaps the AP 1.7 beta does support the D7500 now too. - EDIT: According to the ... SerifLabs Supported Raw Cameras (1.7.x) & Lens Correction list ... your D7500 is now supported in the AP 1.7.x beta version! Related to Win 10 and it's Win explorer, if you download the Nikon NEF codec (from Nikon) and install that one, the Windows 10 system (the Win Explorer etc.) and related apps (IrfanView etc.) can then handle your D7500 NEF files! rob.biker54
Good morning! Many thanks for your helpful reply. I'm afraid I understand the camera electronics miles better than I do the PC! Sorry I really meant 'File explorer' and not 'Windows explorer'. My error here! When I had the Nikon D7100, After downloading images via Photoshop Elements 2018 or earlier, File explorer opens the RAW images no problem. With the D7500 it does not, so I think something has changed here with Microsoft since the last Windows 10 update. I wished I had known about the Nikon NEF Codec app earlier to be honest! I have downloaded the Nikon NEF Codec and guess what? I can now open D7500 RAW files in Affinity even though I have Version 1.6.5.123! If I want the latest version AP 1.7 beta, how do I get the update? I have looked round the account settings but cannot see an 'Update' button? Once again many thanks for your clear reply and I've made notes in my PC work book!

Click the AP 1.7.x beta link @v_kyr provided in his post. The beta is not an 'update' in the usual sense; it is a version you can run along side of the 1.6 version to test its features prior to the final release.
