jayh99
I am new to Affinity Designer so bear with me if this is something simple that I'm missing. But I receive quite a few PSD files created in Photoshop by our client's design team with Smart Objects or embedded layers inside of them and I was curious if it is possible to modify or drill down into those objects? I've seen forum posts back from 2017 saying this feature was not supported but it may be coming. Since those were a little dated, I wanted to post and see if there is a way to do this? Like the others who posted in the older forum, since I receive the files from our clients, I will have to keep using Photoshop if this isn't a part of Affinity Designer. myrrhine
Staff Gabe Posted January 28, 2019 Staff Share Posted January 28, 2019 Hi @jayh99, Welcome to the forums. Unfortunately, smart objects are still not supported, and they will be rasterised during the import. Sorry Thanks, Gabe.
jayh99
Thanks for the quick response Gabe! That is really unfortunate. I love almost everything about Affinity over Photoshop with the two exceptions being Smart Objects and the way fonts end up laying out differently when you import the layers as text. Aside from those hang ups, I'd uninstall Adobe in a second.
