Brush form, straight line

Having difficulty applying brush form to lines. Despite palette preview shows a brush like line form, when applying to a line path, lines are straight.

Anyway, inconsistent GUI is a problem here, because if the brush palette shows preview of a line in brush form, that must be whats applied instantly, should not have to be set again. Then right when I manipulated the pressure curve, it quickly adapted the preview, which showed a brush form, to a straight line (what it should have been from the start, as that was the actual setting) and then changed into brush form while I changed the curve. But this is input to the developers.

There must not be any additional setting needed to get a brush form. There is a set style in the brush palette, and that brush look should be set instantly. Such styles have to override any change to standards, if in my case this was the reason, because I remember initially, applying brush style to a line did work.
