Affinity Designer brush strokes look jagged

Recommended Posts

I downloaded the free trial of Affinity Designer for Mac yesterday, and I've run into trouble while using pixel persona. Brush strokes come out looking jagged and pixelated, kind of like they've been run through a sharpen filter. At first I thought it was an issue with my tablet, but it does the same thing when I draw with my mouse. I've also tried zooming in and out and experimented with a bunch of different brushes(+ messed with the brush settings) but nothing fixed this issue.

The only way I've found to get the lines to display properly is to select "pixel size" in the view menu... which then zooms me way in to 234.4%. The file exports just fine -- the lines in the exported version are smooth. Here are screenshots of brush strokes at 100%, pixel size view, and exported (lines on the left are drawn with my mouse, lines on the right with my tablet).far.thumb.png.9ab773dc5f729ad3891c34a873140a10.png

I feel like this is something really simple, but I can't for the life of me figure out what I'm missing/messing up.

That is because they are pixelated. It is unavoidable because pixel brushes can only paint pixels & each pixel can have only one color that must fill the entire pixel.
