How to merge a Pixel layer with it's Mask?

Hi,

Sometimes I'd like to just merge masks into the layer which it is attached to. 

– Pixel Layer 
– – Mask

How can I do that? I have managed to do so before, but I cannot recall how. I can only "merge down" which merges several more layers and "merge visible" which merges all layers.

The menu option "merge selected" never works somehow. It's either greyed out or – if not – doesn't do anything when clicked.

Maybe someone can give me a hand here.

Right click on the layer and 'Rasterise' will do it.
