Print Design

Recommended Posts

Hello there,

First post on here... My question is pretty simple I think but yet complex LOL.

I have an iPad with Photo and Designer and still learning both of them. I’m just starting out my freelance career while still working however the only computer I have is an iPad... Can i do all of my workflow on it using Designer and Photo with an Apple Pencil and keyboard. Most importantly can i work with page layout and export it to print ready PDF for my printers to print and send proofs to clients? Or am i just dreaming and just get a MacBook?

I think with practice it can be done but not sure.

Thanks!

I would certainly say no.

There are too many thing missing from the iPad versions. Spot colours, bleed and printers marks being the main ones that come to mind. The iPad will honour them if they were created on a desktop, but you do need a desktop to create them.

I would say definitely get a MacBook if you need page layout. Use the iPad for design concepts (even to show the client) but transfer to the MacBook to finalise the job.

Windows PCs. Photo and Designer, latest non-beta versions.

Both iPad versions have Pantone solid colours so I think that covers the spot colours. I’m thinking of an iMac but still not sure where my niche will be as I’m also thinking of starting a tshirt shop which I think the iPad will completely fulfill my needs.

thanks

Way to go, IMO. (or a Windows machine...)  Er... not to harm Serif's iPad sells, hehe. (no worries, there are hordes loving the iPad, tho... )

AD, AP and APub. V1.10.6 (not using v1.x anymore) and V2.4.x. Windows 10 and Windows 11.
