So, I've experimented around and tried grouping and ungrouping multiple objects, even going so far as to nest different groups inside other groups, etc. I have tried to methodically figure out what the difference between Ungroup and Ungroup All, but I can't seem to make them do anything different no matter what I try. Can someone explain to me how the two of them work differently, and give me an example scenario of how each would be used?

From this state in Fig 2. i.e. the groups are no longer grouped under a parent group, if you select Group 1 and use Ungroup or Ungroup All it will have the same effect and will ungroup all of the objects within Group 1. Selecting all of the groups 1, 2 and 3 will give you the result in Fig 3.

So, use "Ungroup All" if you want to remove a parent group and ungroup all of the groups under that parent group, else use Ungroup (Shift + Cmd + G)

I think where I was goofing up is which layers I had selected when trying to perform the operations. I don't have Illustator on my PC anymore, but I swear layers act a bit different in Affinity. I think I just need time for my mind to switch the way the two programs work differently.

Thanks for the help. I think I have it all down now.
