Tan
Dear team, First of all congrats with your beautiful program, I already like it very much! I've been trying though to justify text on a number of pages, but it seems to work only for a couple of pages. It does also work when I'm choosing 'Justify vertically' for a single text frame. As my document currently counts 117 pages with linked text frames, it would take a while to justify them all by hand. Is there a quicker way or could this be due to the beta? A_B_C
You want to set all of your text justified? Couldn’t you just put the caret cursor (the blinking text cursor) in one of your text frames, use Cmd + A to select all of your text, and select Justified? Tan
Hi A_B_C, Thanks for your answer. I've tried, but it only works for some of the pages. I also tried selecting the pages in the left menu and then select 'justified', but the result was the same... I'll keep on trying
A_B_C
Or do you want to justify your text vertically? With linked text frames? I cannot exactly get the picture of what you have in mind or the purpose of that. Would you mind sharing a screenshot?
Tan
Yes, that's in fact the purpose. I would like to justify the text on all of the pages vertically, to have a clear page view. I thought it would work the same way as justify horizontally...
A_B_C
No, unfortunately, that won’t work the same way. For vertical alignments are not a text attribute, but a frame attribute. That means, these alignments will only apply to text frames, for these are the target objects in which your text has to be vertically aligned. The only vertical alignments that apply directly to text are aligments to the baseline grid.
Tan
Ah, I understand. Thanks. I didn't think of that before. So if I understand well, the only option is to select the text frames piece by piece and select ' justify vertically'?
A_B_C
If you really want to do so, I fear that’s the way to do it. At the moment, I cannot think of any other options, given the fact that your text frames are already created. However, you could do the following: Create a new document with a single page. On this page, create an empty text frame of the desired size. Set vertical aligment for this frame (!) to Justify Vertically. Now, paste all of your existing text into this frame. Hold down Shift and click the little text flow triangle of the frame. This will invoke text auto flow and create as many linked text frames as are needed to hold your text. In all of these frames, your text will be centered vertically. Hope that helps … Alex
Tan
Ah, great! I will use that option for the next document, thank you very much! A_B_C
A_B_C
I believe there will be improvements for master pages in the future, that will allow us to define frame attributes on a master-page level. That will be an even better solution for your problem.
