I want to make a ellipse selection of a person's face and paste it as a new layer over another background. I want the elipse sellection's edge to fade to nothing on the edges, as wide as a pencil (1/4 inch). Almost like a vignette, but it fades to transparent nothing.
Staff Gabe Posted June 21, 2018 Staff Posted June 21, 2018 Hi @Johan Crous , You can easily do this by setting the "feather" before you make your selection. Start with a low value ( 10px for example)and make your selection ( you will not see any difference until you paste it. Thanks, Gabe.

Johan Crous Posted June 21, 2018 Author Posted June 21, 2018 It did not work as I wanted. I then tried duplicating a layer and applied a mask to it. I inverted it and draw what i needed wit a very large blush widt and a 1% hardness. It worked as I needed.
Johan Crous Posted June 21, 2018 Author Posted June 21, 2018 GabrielM, it is working. In the iPad version I made the sellection and nothing happened apart from the sellection ellips appearing. So I canged back to ordinary persona, select Paste boards, copy, and new pixel layer, sellect the layer, back to Paste boards and paste. Then it is there. I need the edge to be about five times wider, the section where the sellection fades to transparent. The biggest edge effect is with feathering at 7.5, but I guess the image pixel size is the determining factor. Gabe 1
