Jock
Is there a way to create a mirror image in Photo? Not a horizontally flipped image, but one where, for example, a person at the right edge of the image looking out of the image would be still at the right edge of the image but looking into the image? If not in Photo, can anyone suggest a program or plugin that would do this? I realise this isn’t strictly speaking a mirror image, but I can’t think of a better way to describe it - maybe a horizontal translation? Thanks. Staff Gabe Posted June 19, 2018 Staff Share Posted June 19, 2018 Hi @Jock, Welcome to the forums. A mirror works by "flipping" the image. I'm sure what you mean by "true" mirror. Thanks, Gabe.
toltec
There is the Affine filter. That will do that. Make a selection of the area you want (person), rectangular or elliptical. Go Filters > Distort > Affine. Set Extend Mode to Mirror and then adjust the Offset X You will have to do some retouching though as the background probably wont match, as you can see above. A (possibly) better option is to select the person, move him/her to a new layer, inpaint the background and then flip the persons layer. Often less background issues. Impossible to tell without seeing the image in question. Quote Windows PCs. Photo and Designer, latest non-beta versions.
Jock
Thanks for your replies guys. I guess what I was looking for is much more complicated than I realised. I was looking for a pixel-by-pixel horizontal translation of an entire image, and it looks as if this is only possible using sophisticated programming that is WAY beyond my expertise. Next time I’ll take the photo right in the first place!
