Staff MEB Posted February 22, 2015 Staff Posted February 22, 2015 Hi kesza, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) Can you post or send the file to support@seriflabs.com along with a link to this thread to be looked at? We will delete the file after check out what the problem is. Thank you. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
Dave Harris Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Thanks for sending us the file. Affinity can open .ai files, but only if they are saved with a PDF stream. The file you sent doesn't have one. I guess it either pre-dates Illustrator's ability to include PDF, or else was explicitly saved without PDF to save memory. Either way there's nothing we can do with it. Sorry. Quote
kesza Posted February 27, 2015 Author Posted February 27, 2015 Thank you for taking the time to look, at least I know its not user error on my part. Quote
Carlsen Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Hello, I have to apologize if this is a repeat question (I'm sure it is), but couldn't find a current answer/solution. Did the research, and found that AD was a great answer to AI (installed yesterday). Everything looks good except for one major thing that may force me to return to AI. I have used AI for 20+ years and have a ton of AI files that utilize the art board and workspace and I can't afford to not have access to them. My CS4 will not open, so I can't get in and re-save to a Affinity friendly file. I am bummed as I have enjoyed the AD demo and the tutorials. I am desperate and want to stay away from subscriptions. Thanks for any help on this topic. Quote
Staff MEB Posted March 3, 2015 Staff Posted March 3, 2015 Hi Carlsen, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) Currently neither artboards nor the pasteboard area are supported in Affinity Designer. Both are already on our roadmap to be implemented later. Hopefully then we will be able to offer better compatibility with Illustrator files. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
