kevgray Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 Hi all, probably pretty simple but can't get it right. All I want is some plain text as a logo and export it with a transparent background, so it shows as simple text on my web site. I have Designer and Photo, but don't know the best way to do it. Thanks, Kev Gray Quote

Thanks, Kev Gray There are alternatives but absolutely the safest method is to export (File > Export) as a GIF file. That has a transparent background and EVERY type of browser understands GIFs and you wont run into font problems. Quote Windows PCs. Photo and Designer, latest non-beta versions.
kevgray Posted April 21, 2018 Author Posted April 21, 2018 Thanks for the reply, but how do I create it with a transparent background in the first place (see attached). I used Designer for this. Kev Quote
Alfred Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 You need to make sure that the document setup specifies a transparent canvas. The option is in a slightly different place depending on which app you’re using, and I don’t have either one in front of me right now, so please post back if you can’t find it! For what it’s worth, I rarely use GIF for static images other than emoticons. PNG-8 files are almost always at least as small as GIFs, and by using PNG-32 instead of PNG-8 you can have alpha transparency (instead of a stark choice between fully on or fully off). kevgray Posted April 21, 2018 Author Posted April 21, 2018 Thanks Alfred, I've actually found 2 ways to do it. 1 - from the 'new' dialogue there's a checkbox for transparent (which I'd nmissed). 2 - or from the 'export' dialogue choose 'export without background'. Cheers Alfred 1 Quote
