Hi Everybody,

i am new to Affinity Designer actually it is my first designing program I am trying to figure out.

I made 15in by 11 in artboard and I draw a design. I sliced that art board to 7.5 in by 11in pices. I would like to export those 2 slices as ONE pdf file, that when I open it and scroll the 2 slices will be as page 1 and page 2. For some reason it’s not allowing me. It will export ,but the slices are in separate pdf files.

Please help and TIA.

Hi @Agnes D,

Welcome to the forum.

You cannot have 2 slices on one pdf. A better practice would be to work on artboards. Create 2 artboards instead of 2 slices, and use the File>Export to export the artboards. This would create a PDF with one page for each artboard.

Hi Gabriel,

thank you for taking the time and replying to my question.

Well, is there any way I could connect small  artboards together and draw big design on all of them? I tried doing so and I could draw on one artboard but wouldn’t show on the next.

I am designing sewing patterns and I need to make pdf files 8in by 11in, that people could print it out and tape the pattern together.

Any suggestions?

Thank you and TIA

You would probably be better off with your original slices idea.

There are online services which will merge the separate PDF files into one file, such as https://www.pdfmerge.com

or you can use MS Word, if you have it. Insert the individual PDFs into Word pages by going Insert > Object and then you can save it to a PDF as one merged document. Insert > Object will "Embed" the PDF files rather than load them, so it does not convert them into editable Word files, which you don't want..

You could add an "instructions" page or something similar if you wanted. There are obviously other programs that can do the same thing.

Windows PCs. Photo and Designer, latest non-beta versions.

Thank You toltec for that idea. I just tried doing that. Unfortunately it wont work for my projects.

1. When i did Insert> Object the icons were inserted on pages. It did make it into one pdf file.

2. Then I tried Insert> text from file ( that was second option) Pop- up came out saying that, since its a lot of graphic it may not load exactly whats in that file.

It loaded incorrectly. I printed it. The design was little smaller and the text that was on the joining line was placed incorrectly.

I am wondering why AffinityD converts slices to pdf separately not together like artboards?

Thank you toltec

I dont think you can have two slices on one PDF. I had the same problem while exporting once. I somehow managed to covert PDF into PNG using Free Online Converter. That did the job for me. Try any available tool to do the job.  Instead you can work on artboards by creating 2 artboards and using the Export to export the artboards.
