Matching tones from base layer image to another layer

Hi - Anyone know if there is a quick way, when building a composite,  to automatically match tones to an image imported onto a new layer from the image on the base layer? A bit like the feature in PS Elements that sort of does this. Thnx in advance.

While we don't have an auto colour match feature (it's been requested a few times) you could possibly do this manually, if you see this thread Drippycat and Verysame have both posted a manual method way of colour matching.

Many thanks - I'll give these a try. And at least I now know I'm not failing to find an auto clour match command buried away somewhere!
