Paint Brush Tool Behaviour

Recommended Posts

I'm pretty sure I'm doing something funky here as the use case is dead simple.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. file >new (Print, A4, RGB 8 bit, Transparent background)
  2. Layer > new layer
  3. select paint brush tool
  4. click and drag on canvas

Something real weirds going on because in step 4 - no paint gets left on the canvas.

What am I doing here? So basic, and so frustrating that I can't get it to work...

cheers,

lstocky

p.s. the pixel tool works, just not the regular paint brush tool

Under the brushes tab which brush is currently selected and if you choose a different brush does it work correctly.

How do I see which brush is selected? - when you follow the precise steps I detailed, no selection appears apparent in the brushes pane (in the studio)

Make sure Opacity or Flow is not set to zero in the brush's context toolbar.

Also make sure Protect Alpha is disabled in that toolbar.

Ah-ha - Protect Alpha - that was the culprit. Is that normally on my default?

thanks
