BlueBell05 Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Hi thereI've just downloaded Affinity and I'm really excited about it so far but I've hit a very frustrating wall, I just can't get pressure sensitivity to work properly.Whenever I draw a line with the brush tool I get very inconsistent pressure changes, it'll never be as thick as the selected brush size and I just can't get it to finish in a point. I use a wacom Cintiq and I've tested the pen pressure in the wacom settings and in photoshop just to make sure it's not the pen and they're all working fine.Is this just a vector thing or are there settings I can adjust to fix this? Thanks for your help Quote
Staff MEB Posted February 17, 2015 Staff Posted February 17, 2015 Hello BlueBell05, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) Make sure you have the Controller on the context panel set to Pressure (Vector Brush tool). Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
BlueBell05 Posted February 17, 2015 Author Posted February 17, 2015 Hey MEByup I've found that one, I can get some pressure it's just behaves weirdly. For example i'll select a size 16 brush and draw a line sweeping downwards and it'll look good while I'm drawing it but once I release it it'll be really thin but if I draw the same line backwards, sweeping up I can get it slightly thicker but still not ending in a sharp point.I managed to improve the results by setting the size variance really high (about 90%) but even then I just can't get the kind of results I'd expect from using a stylus. Staff MEB Posted February 17, 2015 Staff Posted February 17, 2015 Hi BlueBell05, I'm a little limited here because I don't have access to a Wacom to replicate what you're describing. I will raise this issue with MattP, the developer responsible for the vector brushes. He also has access to various tablets and will be able to help you figuring out what's going on. Staff MattP Posted February 17, 2015 Staff Posted February 17, 2015 I think we've mentioned in the forums a little while ago a potential improvement here - basically the post-processing of the pressure data that we perform is too aggressive and inaccurate for your style - it works for me, but that's not helping you much! I can add a user-controllable pressure smoothing level and then hopefully you'll be able to get predictable results :) BlueBell05 1 Quote
BlueBell05 Posted February 25, 2015 Author Posted February 25, 2015 Thanks for the help guysThat'd be awesome if you could Matt. Is that something that would appear in a future update? Quote
Staff MattP Posted February 25, 2015 Staff Posted February 25, 2015 Yes, I'll try to get in for a future update... I think we're aiming to push for a Mac App Store update very soon, so I'm not sure it would be in prior to that as we have to tighten our belts on changes now, but I'll aim to get in soon :) Quote
