Hi, I just bought Affinity Photo to upgrade from Macromedia Fireworks, and so far while you have many amazing features, it's like you have forgotten about the basics.

I want to create 65 Pinterest pins for a marketing campaign, so I find a pin close to what I want, right click and copy image, then paste it into Affinity Photo, draw a box inside the content section I want to replace with my own. Hit delete and the whole photo gets deleted, not the selection.

Now I have bought your product, I'm stuck with it, please add the ability to draw a box and delete the contents.

Thanks

David

A pasted image is treated as a resolution independent, embedded file, separate from the main document.

You can convert it by right clicking and choosing Rasterise. Then you can edit it at pixel level and make selections.

Windows PCs. Photo and Designer, latest non-beta versions.

You attached a "delete.afphoto" file to your post, which appears to be just a screenshot of an Affinity Photo application window in the native Affinity format. For future reference, note that you can attach actual working afphoto files to your posts. For screenshots you can attach PNG or JPEG format files which can be displayed in posts without the need for anyone to download them, as below.

Regarding your screenshot, note that you have two pixel layers but the upper one is not set to be visible:
