Dunno what's on…

Maybe just layer-issu? Maybe a fill-layer?

Open the layer (ebenen) tab and make sure, nothing is covering the layer you want.

Imported another picture - same problem. As much as I know: no layers (see screenshot)

Hi Jenso,

Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

Are you using a multiple-monitor set up? What settings do you have in Affinity Photo Preferences, Performace section, Display? Metal, OpenGL... ?

Hi MEB,

no multimonitoring, in my preferences I tried all options Metal, open, Software… no change.

I can't work, Program never worked. Deleting and new install didn't help.

BTW: if I open a jpg in Aff.Designer: same Problem!

Hi BlackHounds,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
No, i haven't been able to replicate it. What's you iMac specs/model? What file type are you trying to open (JPG, PNG, a RAW)? Can you attach it here please? I can provide an upload link if you wish to keep the file private - just let me know.

If you go to Affinity Photo Preferences, Performance section and switch the Display dropdown from Metal to OpenGL does it work for you (you must untick Enable Metal compute acceleration at the bottom to be able to change the Display dropdown setting.
