WeeJavaDude Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 First-time poster. I have had Affinity for about 6 months. Love it and hopefully, a Lightroom replacement will release. I just noticed the 1.6 upgrade (Been a bit busy at work) and it says to get the bonus material look on the Welcome page. Well, it appears it is no longer on the welcome page. Is there a way I can get the bonus material. Is there another way to find the links. Thanks in advance Quote
Polygonius Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 Well, its some weeks delay, but send a mail to any of the developer ... if you are really pleasant... maybe they too???? ''''''''' What is so special on LR? I use AB (just for organizing) and just for THIS, its great. Its free (except the space for all this adobe-folders ANYWHERE in your system and this want-to-phone-home... but just as an organizer its great! I would love to see more an small-cost AB, than an expansive LR replacement, Without all this 3GB anywhere... Thats so nasty with Adobe.... R C-R Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 If you mean the material mentioned here, that offer expired in early November. However, as mentioned in that topic, the Force One Macro Pack (for Photo) and the Grade UI Kit (for Designer) should still be available through the Welcome screen if you have not previously downloaded them. WeeJavaDude Posted January 1, 2018 Author Posted January 1, 2018 Thanks for the replies. I can't believe I missed it. Those long 12 hour days from November to end of the year did not give me anytime. Was hoping the folks at Affinity could help out since I did purchase it. But definitely missed the day. Just by luck saw it as I was taking advantage of some brushes as Xmas gift. Quote

Does a good job of Batch processing. Given they went Subscription only, I am starting to look for a replacement. I just got done managing my assets this year and am hoping to not lose a lot of my work. I am definitely a novice when it comes to Affinity Photo. Hopefully in 2018 I will get better. The reason I am hoping for Affinity Photo DAM is it would be great to have more tight integration. Not sure what AB is? Just starting my journey for a replacement, so I am open to suggestions. I definitely like the ability to Rate/Manage/and do some quick and dirty cleanup. I can do about 90% of what I want to do with my photos in LR and only jump to Affinity or some other tools for other stuff. Affinity photo is powerful, but I am definitely struggling with the learning curve. I am a software developer with over 20 years of building interfaces and experiences so I just got to put in the time. In my opinion definitely some rough edges (i.e. things don't feel right to me at times) but that perhaps is just newbie experience and it will improve with time. Thanks for your comments and look forward to a pointer to AB. Quote
Polygonius Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 AB = Adobe Bridge. Does a very good job for viewing/organizing your pics. Not more, but thats really fast and comfortable. (i absolutly dislike osx-photos or other apps whith its "no-direct-finder-access".) AB takes and reflects the finder-input, its just a special-feature-document-manager for pictures, with virtuell smart/tagging-folders for better orientation/find/delete/rename... sctions. And believe it or not: Its completely free. You just need an account and a lot of free space (roundabout 3 gigs, the core-app itself is small, but the "adobe extra stuff" is very spreaded on the whole system, its a nightmare). So this one of the disadvantages. Next: no affinity-support (i can understand), but also no svg-support (i cannot understand). Sice of the thumbnail-"duplicates" is too big for its just prieview job (the library is very fast grwoing and grwoing)... No edit-features, just orientation-fix. But except this: the manager-functionality is very great. The fastest way i know. So, if Serif decide to create such a tool it should have a deep look to AB. The explorer-like-path-naviagtion is much better than the osx-finder-one. And the rating shortcuts, and the smartfolder/tagging is a big help for organizing and of course with fully serif-support. I would pay roundabout 30€ for just a manager like this. A batch developer-"persona" and other lightroom features inside this, should be for sale as extra module. I do not need it.
