Vector/object/layer crop tool for Affinity Photo

I love how in AD you can crop anything you place on a layout. But in AP when you use the crop tool

you only get the option to crop the whole document. Is there any way to do the AD crop in AP?

Hi cocoazenith,

There's no object based crop tool in Affinity Photo but you can easily achieve the same result using a vector mask - just draw a shape with the Shape Tools or closed path with the Pen Tool - fill it with colour (this is important - that's the filled areas that will act as a mask) then drag it over the image/objects's thumbnail in the Layers panel to use it as a vector mask - you should see a small vertical blue line on the right of the thumbnail while doing so. The vector mask is still editable as any other shape - just select it in the Layers panel (you have to click on its thumbnail to select just the vector mask), change to the Move Tool and adjust the shape as you see fit.
