iuri
Posting this issue here on the Beta forum... Just tried on 1.6.4.49 beta on iPad Pro 12" (first model). Steps to reproduce: Open a new affinity file 4000 x 6000 px Import this image via safari: https://unsplash.com/photos/0wroxMXvPxk/download Long-press on the image and select "Copy" (this copies the image to the iOS clipboard) Go to Affinity > ... > Pasteboard > Paste Use "move tool' to place it on the lower part of the canvas Click "..." > "Duplicate" (with this image layer selected) Use "move tool" to place the 2nd layer on the upper part of the canvas On the "Layer Studio" select both layers (by swiping left each layer) Click "..." > Merge > Merge Selected bugz =>> nothing happens (it should merge) Click "..." > Merge > Merge Down bugz =>> nothing happens (it should merge) But if you click "..." > Merge > Merge Visible it creates a new layer with both images merged
Chris_K
Hi iuri this is because your layers are still image layers at this point. Merge Down/Selected only function on pixel layers not image layers so you need to rasterise the layer before you try to merge them. I shall get the fact that the options are not greyed out when they should be logged Serif Europe Ltd - Check the latest news at www.affinity.serif.com
iuri
Thanks Chris! I didn't know that an image layer wasn't a pixel layer. my 2 cents then: 1) Graying out the non-available merge options as you suggested would be good, but one has to understand why its not an option. 2) Maybe turn all Pasted images (from clipboard) directly as Pixel layers? (is there even a need to have an image layer option? some kind of performance issue?)
