erickp
When opening an existing .PSD into AP, I notice that the "smart objects" get converted to "Pixels" i'm assuming. In the original .PSD within PS, some of my Smart Objects are connected to Vector Objects and another can be a layered .PSD file. Is there a way to reconnect these files when opened within AP? I want to use Affinity Photo but I make heavy use of Smart Objects with in Photoshop and if I can find a somewhat simple way to convert these over, it going to be difficult to transition. With that said, I think you've all done an amazing job with it and really do want to switch but as a professional with a business i can't sacrifice too much time in a transition. Thank you. Staff Ben Posted July 12, 2017 Staff Share Posted July 12, 2017 We currently don't handle smart objects. It's on the list of improvements we hope to make. It's dependant on us having a comparable feature into which we can import smart objects. erickp
Thank you for the reply. Make sense. Hope you guys figure that one out because it's HUGE. Probably one of the biggest things stopping me from completely switching over. Will keep an eye out.
Staff Ben Posted July 13, 2017 Staff Share Posted July 13, 2017 We know. There's a few structural things we need to resolve in the way smart objects would need to be handled. The main issue we have when adding any PSD compatible feature is that it fits with our plans - and that we are not just replicating what PSD does. anon1 1 Quote SerifLabs team - Affinity Developer Software engineer - Photographer - Guitarist - Philosopher iMac 27" Retina 5K (Late 2015), 4.0GHz i7, AMD Radeon R9 M395 MacBook (Early 2015), 1.3GHz Core M, Intel HD 5300 iPad Pro 10.5", 256GB
