senojoeht
In AD the text looks fine however when exported to PDF, JPEG or PNG it appears rasterised. Is this a problem with the programme or something I'm overlooking? Project and PDF attached. TEA.afdesign TEA.pdf
Staff MEB Posted January 15, 2015 Staff Share Posted January 15, 2015 Hi senojoeht, Welcome to Affinity Forums. :) JPEG and PNG are raster formats, they don't support vector data (excluding Fireworks PNG's). PDF does support vector data, however you have applied a Bevel / Emboss FX effect to the text. FX effects are all rasterised when exported. If you remove the FX the text will be exported as vector. senojoeht
FX effects are all rasterised when exported. Ah ok, thank you! Are textured brush strokes the same? I've had the same problem with these. In this case, how do I go about using FX, either in print or for the web? Is it simply a case of using a higher DPI? (Beginner if that isn't already obvious). Thanks
Staff MEB Posted January 15, 2015 Staff Share Posted January 15, 2015 Yes, textured brushes are raster based too. For print just set you document type (File -> Document Setup...) to Print - or Print (Press-Ready) for commercial printing. The effects will be rendered to the dpi specified in the Document Setup dialog (300 in this case). Same for web, set the document type to Web (make sure the dpi is set to 96 if you're running the Mac App Store version because sometimes it doesn't change automatically - this was corrected in the latest beta) and export the images (PNG, JPEG etc) as you do normally.
