Can anyone suggest the best way in AFPhoto, to mask the transparent areas of a clear glass object against a white background (very little contrast)?   I want to use it on a different background.

Actually, since pictures are worth a thousand words ... this is the part of the image I want to mask:

Hi GFS,

It may be worth using the Freehand tool, perhaps changing the Type from Freehand to Polygonal or Magnetic. Once the selection has been made, click on the Mask icon on the Layers panel or Layers > New Mask Layer. You can then copy and paste this to another image or save as a .afphoto file to use later.

Hi Lee D,

thanks for the pointers.

I was really asking how to maintain the transparency of the glass, but no worries ... after trying various methods, I found it can be done quite effectively using Blend Options.

(I couldn't get the masking of the biscuit crumbs quite perfect, but it's okay for the repro size.  I do have a lot of trouble in AFP, with masking areas of fine detail which are being used on a different background.  I wish there was a 'clean-up' tool to facilitate this).
