Move a layer without grabbing object

Recommended Posts

I don't think I have seen this issue before.  In PS when doing a move, if the "Auto-Select" is not checked, the move can be done on the selected layer with the cursor anywhere on the screen to do the drag.

In AD it's difficult to move a small object a large distance because we have to zoom so far in just to grab between the bounding box corners.  Then the auto-scroll is really the only way to move off the visible screen, which is very slow to go several screen widths.  Using the shift direction keys again is much slower to go several screen widths.

If we could do the move zoomed out so the current location and the desired location are both visible it  would be very valuable.

I've tried creating two views with the source on one and the destination in the other but it doesn't work to drag it from one to the other.
