dbelts
I'm creating a design for my school, and was wondering how to create a text effect similar to the Rockets/Timberwolves/Cavaliers logo pictures here? I know in illustrator it's titled "offset path", but is there anything similar in AD? Nikson
Staff MEB Posted December 27, 2014 Staff Share Posted December 27, 2014 Hi dbelts, Welcome to Affinity Forums. Currently Affinity Designer doesn't have an offset/contour tool. But it's in development as should be implemented later. Meanwhile you can duplicate the shape you want to apply an offset to, and use a stroke (with the intended width) to simulate the offset. Then just put it below the original shape. You can also expand the stroke (Layer->Expand stroke) if you want to edit it further. @paolo.limoncelli has created a quick tutorial on how to do it with Affinity Designer here. dbelts 1 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software

albertolaycg
MEB, is there any way to naturally round shape artistic/frame text? like "San Antonio" Spurs logo in Newbie's NBA logos image...
Staff MEB Posted December 30, 2014 Staff Share Posted December 30, 2014 Hi albertolaycg, Welcome to Affinity Forums. Currently no, but MattP (one of the developers) is working on a new Corner Tool that will allow you to replicate it easily after converting the text to curves. He posted a preview some weeks ago. jotacesar
Hello: Maybe you mean this? I did it using outline effect on the layer, not on individual objects. Happy 2015 to everybody and thanks for your support.
albertolaycg
OOOk MEB, that was not what I mean to but tell MattP that he's a genius! :D Hopping for that tool next upgrade! I meant like the white text in the orange ribbon on this image: [logo] I had to manually fit the text to cure's path...
Staff MEB Posted January 9, 2015 Staff Share Posted January 9, 2015 Sorry i though you were talking about rounding the character´s (letters) corners. What you are asking for is text on a path (make text follow a path). It isn't available yet, but it's already on our roadmap to be implemented later. And yes, MattP is a genius :D And he's not alone ^_^ Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
