mistertimman
I have been stuck on this tutorial for the past two days and will be most grateful if someone could tell me where I am going wrong. My actions are: 1. Open the file "Ketchup for Blood." 2. Click on the top shape. 3. Hold down the shift key and click on the "Pear Shape." 4. Then combine the two shapes by clicking on the "Add" icon whilst holding down the "Alt" key. Step 4 is where it all goes wrong! As the top shape disappears becomes invisible. This is not the case in the video. But for the life of me, I don't know where I am going wrong!! I checked the layers panel, and sure enough there is a combined layer there, however, it is invisible in the workspace. Tim
Staff MEB Posted November 29, 2016 Staff Share Posted November 29, 2016 Hi mistertimman, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) There's a bug with smart nodes that's causing the issue you are seeing. To work around this select all nodes of the bigger shape with the Node Tool (drag a marquee selection around them - press shift if necessary to add nodes individually dragging the marquee around them again), then go to the context toolbar and select Smooth (the second icon) from the Convert section to convert them from smart nodes to smooth nodes. You should now be able to perform the Add boolean operation correctly as described in the video. mistertimman 1 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
mistertimman
Thanks MEB, I can now combine shapes. What a relief! Tim
