newbie2016
Is there any way to import the rich clipart gallery that comes with Serif DrawPlus 8 into Affinity Design for Windows 1.5? Thank you.
Staff TonyB Posted November 19, 2016 Staff Share Posted November 19, 2016 Sorry but the only way would be to drag each item onto a DrawPlus design and then export to PDF. You can then load the PDF file in Affinity. The applications are just too different for us to load the files from DrawPlus.
Alfred
Sorry but the only way would be to drag each item onto a DrawPlus design and then export to PDF. You can then load the PDF file in Affinity. The applications are just too different for us to load the files from DrawPlus. It's somewhat tedious however you do it, Tony, but it doesn't have to be quite as tedious as that! You may recall that the items in a DrawPlus Gallery category are in project files stored in a subfolder of %ProgramFiles%\Serif\DrawPlus\{nn}\Gallery (where {nn} is the DrawPlus version number) and since these are *.dpp files they can be opened in DrawPlus. For example, if you wanted to transfer the Christmas clipart from DPX8 to AD, you would start by going to the folder %ProgramFiles%\Serif\DrawPlus\X8\Gallery\ClipArt and opening the file Christmas.dpp in DPX8. In the above example, many of the items are piled on top of each other on a 105.8 mm (400 px) square page, but there are also some items on the pasteboard. I found that by increasing the page size to A4 they were all contained within the page boundaries, but that still left the problem of multiple items bunched up in the top left-hand corner, so I changed the page size to A2 to give me room to move them around. If you don't separate out the objects like this, you'll have problems in AD because they don't remain grouped when you export to PDF. BUG: As shown in the attached screenshot from AD, the thumbnails in the Assets panel are not properly representative of the objects that you get when you drag the items onto the page.
