Do I need the latest Windows Beta?

Recommended Posts

Some months ago, when it was first offered, I downloaded an Affinity Designer Beta to my PC running Windows 10,  and it appeared to be working fine for the most part. When I have gone to the Forum with issues. the answers have always been with Mac keyboard instructions. Most of the time I was able to translate them to my PC keyboard with success.  Now I've been offered a "real" Windows Beta, and I'm wondering how to proceed, or if I really need this version.  What sayseth thou, Guru?

Hi DaveG703,

Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

This Beta launched yesterday is Affinity Photo for Windows. It's a different software for RAW conversion/development and photo editing. The Beta we launched earlier was Affinity Designer for Windows which is a graphic/web/ui design and illustration application. They serve different purposes. Regarding the differences between platforms, apart a few details related with the OS itself, most of the functionality/features work exactly the same on the Mac and Windows version. The biggest difference are probably the shortcuts. Here's how they relate:

- Mac Command key = Windows Ctrl key

- Mac Shift key = Windows Shift key

- Mac Alt key = Windows Alt key

- Mac Ctrl key = Windows Right Mouse button

We are already started including them in most video tutorials and learning resources.
Hope this help
