Converting from RGB/8 to CMYK/8 not working

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm facing a problem in current beta (1.5.2 beta 3) when I need to convert a RGB/8 document to CMYK/8. When I change the colour format to CMYK/8, the "Assign"/"Convert" switches become disabled (screenshot attached). After hitting OK, the document has CMYK/8 assigned, rather than being converted to it. The colors go bad after this, of course.

Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug? I'm quite sure it was doable in previous versions...

Thanks for any help!

Hi Matt, thanks for reply.

Unfortunately, no, the steps you suggest did not work for me. Despite what option is chosen before selecting CMYK/8, it seems it always gets assigned, instead of being converted to.

I attach an RGB/8 document. Would you try my procedure..? After the "conversion" to CMYK/8, all the colors will change significantly.

I also attach the two screenshots as I see it on my side - original RGB/8 and then "coverted" document to CMYK/8 with distorted colors.

Additional note: I just found out that if I rasterize the images before converting (thus flattening the adjustment layers), the resulting colors are much better, in fact unchanged. Somehow, it seems more like a bug with adjustment layers conversion...

Same problem here. Converting between RGB/8 and CMYK/8 makes the colours go crazy. And no matter which option is selected before switching. :(
I tried it with one vector and one rasterized object, but both changed in an unexpected way.
