LilleG
In the Liquify Persona, the Pinch and Punch tools are mis-named. Each does the opposite of their name. Pinch expands; Punch shrinks.
Staff James Ritson Posted October 10, 2016 Staff Share Posted October 10, 2016 Hey LilleG, there's been the occasional discussion about this internally - I believe the naming convention for these two tools is supposed to be correct: imagine "pinching" pixels with your fingers and bringing them towards you. Now imagine "punching" pixels away from you with a clenched fist. With this mindset the naming makes more sense - hopefully! LilleG
I’m not sure that it does, James. The effect created is not one of depth being changed; of something being pulled forward or pushed back. The effect is of size being changed…within the current plane. Of course, Affinity is free to use whatever terms it prefers but reversing terminology that people are familiar with from other programs seems needlessly confusing. One more thing to have to pause and think about before applying. Edit: It's only confusing if I think about the names. The icons are representative of what they actually do.
