One thing I dislike about affinity photo is that I have to rasterize each layer in order to edit them.  Is there a way to set in the preferences to auto rasterize all new layers?

Welcome to the forums @Kracov

What kind of layers do you have, and what type of editing are you doing to them?

I only ask as some changes were introduced in Photo 2.6.0 which mean that some things which used to need rasterisation – e.g. some pixel selection functionalities – no longer need it:

Okay I found out that when opening files normally, editing is fine.  It's when I use the Place function that requires rasterizing them.  It's still annoying because I need to work with a lot of importing.

You still haven’t told us what sort of editing you are doing.

If we don’t know what you are trying to do then we can’t try and help you with it.

i was trying to cut a part from a selection.  Cutting just deletes the whole image.  So that is why I have to rasterize it.

I have 2.0.4.   it alerted me that 2.1.0 is available and I downloaded through the link which is 2.6.  Then it asked me to sign in to activate my license.  I'm just wondering what I would get by signing up?  Like is it a trial?  Once it goes back to the free version what features will I no longer have access to?

Once you purchase Affinity software all updates to version 2 are free. You will only have to pay again if you decide to purchase the next upgrade version, which will be v3 (whenever that may be.).

If you purchase from the Affinity store you need to create an account to activate the licence, I'm not sure how it works if you purchase from the Mac or Microsoft stores.
