Scotty77 Posted March 15 Posted March 15 When I return to Affinity Photo to continue drawing after having brought another window/programme to the foreground, the current selected brush does not behave as expected. To achieve expected results it's necessary to perform some other function in Photo. See the video below. Here's what's happening in the video: In this example I am using the Natural Pencil 2B on a pixel layer. All works as expected, until... I bring Preview with the reference image to the foreground. I then return to Photo by clicking on the window in some place, however when I continue to draw the brush is only making a very thin, slight mark. To correct the behaviour I click another layer then return to the correct layer. This action 'resets' the brush behaviour. Brush anomaly.mp4 This occurs regardless of the pixel layer being nested in a group or by itself. The 2.6.2 (3187) Beta exhibits the same behaviour. This didn't occur prior to 2.6 2019 i9 MacBook Pro 16" 32GB with AMB Radeon Pro 5600M on Ventura 13.7.4 Hardware acceleration ON. XP Pen Artist 24 QHD as input device. Quote
Staff Callum Posted March 24 Staff Posted March 24 Hi Scotty77, I have tried to replicate this with some of the tablets we have here in the office today and I'm not having much luck unfortunately, does this also occur with your tablet disconnected? It looks as though pressure isn't being taken into account when the app is refocused if you haven't already please could you ensure you have the latest version of your tablet drivers installed? Scotty77 Posted March 24 Author Posted March 24 Hey @Callum, Okay, so I've had a play around with your suggestions as a guide. Note, I have rolled back to 2.5.7 because of this and a few other bugs and I was using XP Pen driver number 4.0.6 - all was working fine. As I noted above, the issue is present in the two 2.6.2 Betas. I updated the XP Pen driver to 4.0.8 (there are two versions released this March and I tried both) and the issue persists in 2.6.2 Beta... AND now it is happening in 2.5.7 as well. So I reinstalled the 4.0.6 driver and the issue persists in both the 2.6.2 Beta AND 2.5.7. I couldn't get back the old, functional behaviour. Bummer. But at least it seems to be some sort of interaction with the driver?? I experimented with the drawing display disconnected and quit the driver and I can only achieve a thin line with some minimal size variation with the pressure of the trackpad. The line doesn't render at anything close to "full weight" as when drawing with the stylus. I hope this assists you in diagnosing the problem! Thanks for looking into it for me. Quote
