How to copy a single cannel of an image in a new level

I wish to know if it is possible to copy a single channel (just the green one) of an image, in a new level, and in case how to do it.

A simple question.

I think this is what you are wanting to do.

 

You need to have a Pixel layer, not an Image layer. You may need to do a Merge Visible with the document first, or a rasterize to get the pixel layer. With the Composite Channels you can only make a Spare Channel,
