ngp20 Posted March 13 Posted March 13 I've been working on book cover files in Publisher. I use separate picture files and combine them into one file, edit frequently in the Photo persona, and then export the finished file to PNG. The last four AFPUB files I've saved for these covers (and I save OFTEN) are apparently now corrupted and unusable. At first, I thought it was a problem with saving to my cloud drive (P Drive) and so remade the corrupted file and saved it to the desktop this time. That file is also corrupted and unable to be opened. Frustrated, I remade it AGAIN and went back to saving it to the P drive, this time finishing it completely and exporting it to a PNG. I then got started on the follow-up cover, keeping the first one open because I would need to copy some elements over. At the end of the evening, I saved both one last time and closed the program. Today, I sat down to work and the follow-up file is now corrupted, and the first file is just missing entirely. I searched the entire memory for it. The only thing found are temporary links to where it used to be in my storage. The photo files I used to create the covers appear to all be usable still, even with the edits I made to some of them. As far as I can tell, only my files with masks, multiple layers/adjustments, etc. are becoming corrupted when I close them. Attached are the error message, and the PNG of the file that just disappeared a couple minutes after the export. I attempted to also include the AFPUB file I have that won't open, but the system tells me this also won't work, so I can only assume the file has become irreparably broken. Error message for that attached, as well. I'm new to the Affinity software and would appreciate any and all help. I chose Affinity over Adobe for the cost savings and really don't want to have to go elsewhere. Quote
Staff Lee D Posted March 21 Staff Posted March 21 @ngp20 Welcome to the forums. I can DM you a link to upload your .afpub files to our Dropbox so I can take a look. Please Also confirm your workflow in recreating the files as well as providing any files that you use when creating (Images). Generally we recommend saving and loading files locally as other locations such as external drives, NAS or cloud storage can potentially increase the chances of corruption. Quote
