I have transferred all my DTP work to a new NUC but continue to use my old Desktop as a gaming machine for the moment. I also keep Affinity Publisher on it as a backup. But I cannot seem to turn off auto start for it.

It doesn't appear in APPS. It doesn't appear in the Startup Folder. Or in Task Manager.

I have also disabled the 'Reopen Documents on Startup' in Affinity Publisher Settings.

Yet it continues to start automatically.

Is there something I am missing? (I'd rather not delete it completely)

Not sure whether you are on Windows or on Mac. If on Mac, this might help you:

On Windows I've never seen an automatic startup of any Affinity app, other than putting it in the autostart group. There is also nowhere an option in the settings to force something like that.

Also check Task Scheduler, programs can be set to start automatically there

Nope. Nothingh Serif related there.

Again, which version does your Affinity app have? IF 2.x, did you install via the msix installer? If so go to Windows -> Settings -> Apps -> Autostart and check there (this got noting to do with the autostart group/folder!!!)

Also check these registry entries...

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Nope. The msix installer doesn't work with my machine ... or doesn't work the way I want it to and cannot be modified to allow it to be. Hence the note that I looked in APPS and it isn't there ... not even in the Windows -> Settings -> Apps -> Autostart.

Neither if these seem to exist in Windows 10 (or the version I have).

I suspect the problem is that this is a problem on a Desktop I bought in early 2020 ... which probably means that somewhere in all the patches and updates something has decided to not work the way it is supposed to and probably isn't solvable with this machine/setup.

Anyway, I have decided to bite the bullet and get a cheap new gaming rig which will only have Publisher as a backup and will almost certainly not have any such problem.

Thanks for the suggestions.
