Hi everyone,

I'm encountering some frustrating bugs with the data merge function. Specifically, I’m unable to link two sets of data to a file—only one set appears and exports successfully.

Details:

  • Publisher Version: 2.6

  • Reproducible: Yes, it happens consistently.

  • Occurs with new documents? Yes.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Create a document with two pages.

  2. Prepare two Excel files (A and B) or one Excel file with two tabs (A and B) containing data.

  3. Set up a Data Merge Layout for each page in Publisher.

  4. Add both Excel files (A and B) or both tabs (A and B) to the Data Merge Manager.

  5. Create a text box in the Data Merge Layout and link it to a field in the Fields Panel. Do this for both pages, linking them to Excel file/sheet A and B (one per page).

  6. The second data merge file (sheet B) does not export. It is impossible to link fields from the Fields Panel to the second text box.

  7. In the Data Manager Panel, the preview function shows only the data from the first selected dataset (A or B).

  8. When enabling the preview function for dataset A, all fields for dataset B remain empty, and it is not possible to re-link them to a field.

  9. Upon generating the document, the result is incomplete, with too many pages (see the attached example for clarity).

We can only use one file/tab per round of generating the merged document.

Not a bug.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

I see what I did wrong:

I had to specify to which pages i wanted to sent the data.
By doing this I can use multiple datasets in the same document (but not the same page).
