This issue is not new. We are currently running the latest iPadOS on iPad Pro’s with silicon M processors.

It looks like we've identified the pattern behind why iPadOS’s native file dialog doesn’t show all the files we've recently worked on under "Recent." This happens when Affinity directly saves updates to an open file and only displays "SAVING." If Apple's file dialog appears and we choose to save from there - such as via "Save As" - the file then appears in the "Recent" list.

It drives us absolutely crazy that this doesn’t happen regardless of how the file is saved, so could you please check if there is an event you can trigger to ensure this update happens?

Our actions:

  1. We open Affinity, and typically, there is nothing in "Live Docs."
  2. We browse from Affinity to a file we've previously worked on.
  3. The file is stored in iCloud within our own file structure, e.g., `iCloud -> Illustrations -> Corporate visual identity -> Symbols.afdesign`.
  4. We open the file.
  5. We make some edits.
  6. We go back to "Live Docs," where the file is marked with "M" for modified, and we choose "SAVE."
  7. Affinity saves the file.
  8. No matter what we do from here, there is no trace of the file in the iPadOS "Recent" list.

However, if we instead save the file using "Save As" - which forces Apple's file dialog to appear - or if the dialog appears for other reasons, then the "Recent" list is updated.

So:
When Affinity saves a file using "SAVE" without invoking Apple's file dialog, iPadOS does not update the "Recent" list.

PS: When closing and reopening the Affinity app on iPad, it does remember the last-used folder when selecting "Open," which provides some small relief. However, it does not solve the issue of being unable to see the previously worked-on files in "Recent."
