All,

I was working on the attached file earlier today when it suddenly crashed—the screen froze, stayed like that for a good 30mins before I decided to use Task Manager to End Task.

Now, the file refuses to open. I can open all other files, both larger and smaller, simpler and more complex ones without any issues.

I've also gone through the forums and tried various fixes such as turning settings on and off, copying and renaming files, and so on.

I'm using Windows 10 and Affinity Publisher 2.5.7 on my main HDD, an internal SSD drive with all my files on, and embedded images. Everything is up to date and when the file crashed I was moving between pages and clicking on a previously used text box.

Can anybody offer any help?

All I really need from it is the text portions of the "Growing Seeds" section near the end; everything else is in an older, backed up version from a few days ago (I may need to start backing up every day rather than every week).

Thank you.

Tremaine

Hi @Tremaine,

Your file opens for me without issue and moving between pages and selecting text boxes etc., all seems fine so I'm slightly unsure what is causing the issue at your end...

I'm assuming you have sufficient free Hard Drive space and RAM...

Interestingly your uploaded file is 1.17 GB but the resaved version is only 818.6 MB... If you download the attached version do you see the same issue or can you open it?

Other than resaving, which I've done, I'm unsure what else you can try. If you still have the same issue you could run a factory reset of Publisher but I'm unsure it would make any difference...

Hi @Hangman

Thank you so much.

The file you sent back works fine for me as well, which means you've saved me a lot of work.

I know I've got plenty of RAM, but my main drive does occasionally have problems when Windows starts downloading a million and one update files; this is something I forgot to check. Also, I have Affinity on another PC which I didn't think to use to see if it could open the file. I shall remember both of these if there's a next time.

For now, I'll put it down to one of those annoying things that just happens now and again.

Thank you for everything.

Take care,

Hi @Tremaine,

That's no problem at all, I'm glad you're all back up and running again and have options should they be needed in the future...
