Hi @Jerry Ashworth and welcome to the forums.

Does the spacebar work with other apps or is it just with Affinity?

if it's just Affinity, go to Settings, select Shortcuts, pick any command that doesn't have a shortcut already, click in its shortcut box and press spacebar. Is there a yield sign beside the shortcut? If so, mouse over it and Affinity will tell you which command you assigned it to already. Delete the one you just assigned and find and delete the other one.

You should also check Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard and ensure Full Keyboard Access and Slow Keys are turned off.

If all else fails, choose Apple menu > Restart and see if the problem goes away after a full restart.

Good luck.
