This is driving me spare.

I have created a text box on a Master page.

When I go to the Pages panel and right click to apply the Master page the text box appears.

When I try to paste a large body of text into the text box Publisher resolutely refuses to allow me to autoflow the overflowing text. The text box has X marked on it showing I can’t change it.

Fortunately I am only playing with mock ups but next week I need to start working on a book which will need Master Pages for chapters and sections and I must find out what I’m doing wrong.  I have attached a file which shows what I have done.

I managed to get it to create one new text box to take some overflowing text but that was all. After that all it does is create blank pages.

Thanks

If you are using a Facing Page document layout, first make sure that on the Master Page you have linked the Text Frame on the left side to the Text Frame on the right side. Click the lower-right linking triangle on the left Frame, then click in the right Frame.

On the document page, you Shift+Click the red eye icon on the lower right of the Frame to auto-flow. Help: https://affinity.help/publisher2/en-US.lproj/pages/Text/flowingText.html

First of all, since you have a facing pages document layout, you'll be better to use a spread (facing pages) Master Page. Then follow the advices of @walt.farrell

Thanks for your help Walt and Oufti.

I could not find instructions on how to set up Autoflow on Master Pages but thanks to you I think I have cracked it.

I hope 2025 is a good year for you both.
