My system:

Macbook pro 2023, MacOS Sequoia 15.1.1

Photo 2.5.7 + Nikon NX Studio 1.7.0

My question:

This is kind of an odd question because it involves the interaction between Photo 2 and Nikon's NX Studio.

I will typically save my image files, whether raw NEF format or JPG format into a subfolder under my Pictures folder as shown here.

I'll then open the images in the subfolder with NX Studio to review the images and select them for editing in Photo. NX Studio allows me to send the image to Photo where I perform the edits. For raw files, I'll export the edited image from the Photo persona as a JPG then close out the raw file without saving. I have noticed that a duplicate raw file is then placed in the Pictures folder above the subfolder I was working in.

Likewise, if I use NX Studio in the same way as above but select a JPG file for editing, when I save my edits, a new file is created in the Pictures folder above the subfolder I was working on and the original JPG is unchanged.

So I guess the big question is whether this is an Affinity issue or a Nikon issue. Has anyone else noticed this behavior?

Thanks,

Vince

Hi @vjb1976,

I highly suspect this will be an NS Studio issue, as Affinity wouldn't duplicate files during the editing process and certainly isn't something i've experienced when editing RAWs or JPGs or seen reported here on the Forums before.
