Goofy Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Hi there, Not sure if someone else has already reported this bug/behaviour: Since version 2.5.7, Publisher cannot create a preview of a PDF export. If I ignore it and press the button Export nothing is exported. After closing the export window, I need to use command 'Force quit' form the Apple Menu in order to quit the program. FYI: I am working on an Intel Mac with Sonoma. Quote
Hangman Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Hi @Goofy, Can you upload your Publisher document along with any Linked Graphics so we can figure out what is causing the issue? Ideally, you can use the File → Save as Package option, save to an empty New folder, zip everything up, and then upload the zip file that would be perfect... Goofy Posted December 19, 2024 Author Posted December 19, 2024 I appreciate your assistance. However, because of privacy reasons, I will not upload the document. Sorry for that. Quote
Hangman Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Just now, Goofy said: I appreciate your assistance. However, because of privacy reasons, I will not upload the document. Sorry for that. I completely understand and not a problem... there will be something in your file causing the file to fail to preview and export... I don't know how many pages you have in your document but your best approach would be to split the number of pages in half and try to export those, i.e., if your document contains 100 pages try exporting pages 1 to 50 to see if they preview and export and if they do export pages 51 to 100... You basically need to narrow down where the error is so if pages 1 to 50 export but pages 51 to 100 don't then split pages 51 to 100 in half, export pages 51 to 75 and then 76 to 100 and so on until you locate the page or pages causing the export issue... If your page range previews then it will likely export as well, you'll know you have an issue if you see no preview or the estimated file size doesn't reach 100%. Once you've located the page causing the problem, select all layers for that page in the Layers panel, hide them and then toggle the layer visibility on for each layer one at a time or in small groups until you find the layer or layers causing the issue and then rectify those layers. It could be something as simple as a node on a vector graphic or a corrupt image file... I hope that helps and let us know if you manage to resolve the issue... Goofy Posted December 19, 2024 Author Posted December 19, 2024 Likely, it is only a 4-page document with three images and some text areas. I will see if switching on/off layers will narrow down the issue for me. Thank you, again, for your help! Hangman 1 Quote
Hangman Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 No problem, my best guess is that it will be one of the images... If so opening the image, re-exporting then replacing it in your Publisher document should hopefully fix the problem... Goofy Posted December 19, 2024 Author Posted December 19, 2024 Great, your trick worked for me. One of the linked images caused the issue. I re-opened the image first in the updated version of Affinity Photo 2.5.7, before I switched 'on' the layer containing the image in Publisher. So, everything is working normally, again. Thank you, again, for your help in this matter. Hangman 1 Quote
Hangman Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 That's no problem at all, I'm glad everything is working for you again and glad you didn't have hundreds of pages to work through to find the culprit...
