photo 2 freezing momentarily

I leave photo open and do other things sometimes ,  I left a large doc open and when I switch back to photo I can't even move the curser for a good 30 seconds.      

windows 11
16gb ram
file open is 3000px by 25000px

@issicus It's not something I can replicate on my system, even with a larger document left open. Once I switch back I can continue editing without the app freezing.

Have you checked to see if Hardware Acceleration is enabled within the apps Settings > Performance> If so, try turning it off and restarting the app to see if that has any impact.
