I'm having issues with performance in larger projects (15-30 artboards) with mixed content and also one-artboard-pojects with 100s of layers. 1-5GB Affinity files. I have tried to break them up but often I need to work in one file (advanced multi-variant product images in high resolution). I use a maxed out spec MBP M1 Max 32GB ram, plenty of disk space. I have tried all possible graphic card settings inside Affinity, Different view modes etc. so my guess is it is not a graphic issue.

My performance issues are as follows:

  • Very sluggish when dragging artboards
  • Copy paste in any layer or artboard takes 1-3 sec or more - which buggs down workflow to the extent that it is not possible to work as a professional.

My Question is: Is there a tool inside Affinity where I can pinpoint what layer is causing this? Like a perfomance tool.

Thanks!

Hi Andreas N,

Welcome to the forums :)

I'm sorry to hear the app is performing poorly on your Mac, please could you confirm if you also tried disabling Metal Compute acceleration in the apps preferences? Unfortunately we don't have a performance tool etc however if you are able to attach a copy of your file to this post I should be able to take a look at it for you.

Thanks
C
