Possible to use/select Designer artboards in Publisher's data merge?

I am a board game designer. I have a Designer document that has a separate artboard for each of the icons I'm using in my game. This works great when embedding a single icon into another document (like a Publisher document that is my Rulebook doc). I love that I can have all my icons in a single document, and don't even need to export them as their own individual icon files.

I'm wondering if there is a way to use that same functionality in a Publisher data merge. Like, the image field in my spreadsheet would be filename.afdesign > artboardname or something like that, so that I can target a specific artboard within a Designer document.

I'm not seeing anything to indicate this is possible... if it is, I'd love to know how. If it's not, consider it a feature request!

No, that's not possible with the current Data Merge functionality. You would need to export them as separate files for use with Data Merge. (Sorry for the delayed response.)
