Affinity Photo | Preserving Curves when creating a Mask or Selection

Recommended Posts

I don't know if this has already been commented in another post (I searched and found nothing directly related with this).

Currently (in Affinity Photo V2.5.5) when you create a curve with the pen tool and click on the [Selection] button the curve is lost. I think it would be interesting to have an option to preserve the curve. Most of the time it's necessary to re-use the curves to make new or alternative selections or to generate another type of effects.

An easy way to preserve a curve would be by Alt + clicking the [Selection] button.

Every time I need to make a selection from a curve, I have to go through the extra steps of duplicating the curve first, but I often forget, lose the curve and then have to recreate it.

You may Use selection from layer, but this requires the shape to be filled.

My posts focus on technical aspects and leave out most of social grease like „maybe“, „in my opinion“, „I might be wrong“ etc. just add copy/paste all these softeners from this signature to make reading more comfortable for you. Otherwise I’m a fine person which respects you and everyone and wants to be respected.

Nice!

"Select Menu > Selection from Layer (CTRL + Shift + O)" or "CTRL+click the Curve"

Thank you @NotMyFault
