Why aren't the Book pages updating in Publisher - Books

When adding chapters. the first two sets of page numbers update as they should, but the following pages don't. Any reason for this that I'm missing. And is it possible to cause them to update? 

As you can see they are stuck on 8 - 14

Publisher. M2 Mac. V2.5.5

 

UPDATE:

If I create New .apublisher files as chapters, the numbering works. I used 7 pages each chapter and created 7 new chapters. The numbering  sequencing worked.

If I Duplicated a chapter document 7 times the sequencing doesn’t work.

Strange but true.

Duplicated how?

By copying the .afpub file in your file system and pasting a new copy, after you've added it as a Book chapter? (As opposed to using Save As and a new file name from Publisher, that is, or making the copies before adding the file as a Book chapter.)

In that case, what you're seeing is easily explained. A .afpub file that is used as a chapter of a Book records information about that usage. That's why a .afpub file can only be in one Book. So if you add it as a chapter, it gains the information about which chapter it is and what page it starts on (along with other information).

If you make a copy of the .afpub file using file-system functions at that point, that copy also knows its starting page number.
